The regional chapter of Habitat for Humanity needed help, and Toyota of Stamford came to the rescue with a deal that the nonprofit home-building organization couldn't refuse.
The dealership this week presented a new 2010 Tundra truck with an extended cab to Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, which offers affordable home ownership to those who otherwise could not afford it. The truck will be used by the chapter on a free-loan basis.
”We bought the truck and gave it to our rental department. We're renting the truck for Habitat for six months,” said Paul Cassella , marketing manager for Toyota of Stamford, which in its 40-plus years has been a regular contributor to charities in the region. “It's all about being a part of the community.”
The Habitat chapter, which is building West Main Street Commons at 251-275 W. Main St. in Stamford, its first Stamford project, will use the truck mostly for transporting materials.
”Our on-site trucks are too cumbersome” said Keith Cook, co-president of the chapter. “It quickly became clear that we needed another vehicle to transport materials and supplies. And just as quickly Toyota of Stamford responded with an offer to loan not only a truck, but a brand-new Tundra.”
Marie Orsini Rosen, chief development officer of the Habitat chapter, credited the McKale family, owner of the dealership, for its willingness to provide the vehicle.
”Toyota of Stamford is really committed to the Stamford community, and so are we,” she said.
” We are proud to partner with Habitat CFC on affordable home ownership, an issue of great importance to this community,” said Bill McKale,
Toyota of Stamford's president. “When Habitat approached us about the truck, we didn't hesitate because of its trusted reputation and warm reception here in Stamford. We are a family-owned business so are very proud of Habitat's focus on family.”
Stratford resident Chuck McKale and his family, the dealership's owners, through their membership in Lordship Community Church in Stratford, have seen the benefits of Habitat by participating in projects in the Bridgeport area.
Joining in the presentation of the truck were Iveth Bowie and Neqwaunia Perry, who will live in units on West Main Street and are providing their required “sweat equity” as part of their agreements with the chapter.
” I'm thrilled. Each homeowner has to put in 500 hours,” said Perry, a Stamford resident and a certified nursing assistant. “I was accepted, and now I'm a future homeowner.”
Bowie, a paralegal, has learned to read blueprints and conquered her fear of heights by climbing onto the roof.
”We have a great team. The people (professionals and volunteers) who work with us are so patient,” she said.
West Main Street Commons is scheduled for completion in April.

I was there again last week, one day my windshield wiper broke while I was driving in the snow, came straight to Toyota and my wiper was replaced instantly. Two days later got a flat tire on 95 and after getting my tire changed came to Toyota again and the tire got fixed immediately......this is what I call “great service.”

I got an oil change last week and my tires aligned as well. Corey did a great job of keeping to the time that he promised and for keeping me abreast of needs for my car. He was efficient and professional. Andrew has always supplied parts I've needed whether it was on a walk-in basis or by special order. He always does a thorough job and is professional and courteous. I'm always telling people to go to Toyota to get a used or new one, in part, because of the great service your team provides.

Thank you for the courtesies extended to me when I came in for service on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The scheduled service was the 30,000 mile mark. I expressed to you if we could keep the cost down in a telephone call last week (you very graciously had returned my call), and you accomodated me by doing what was to be done and keeping the cost down.
The experience of my wife and myself with Toyota of Stamford has always been pleasant and the personnel have taken the time to explain things to us, a good education.
From my last visit :
1. You were responsive in returning my call.
2. You heard me out and said we are going to keep your cost down but we will make sure that your car gets the service that is needed.
3. You also made arrangements to get the “recall” items done and booked a loaner car for me. I did not take the loaner car and waited for the service to be over. This was done very quickly and efficiently.
4. While waiting for the service to be completed, I was able to talk to other customers who had come for service - from Rye Brook, Darien, Westport and I was from Norwalk. Without fail everyone appeared quite satisfied and the gentleman from Rye Brook said that he passes two (2) other Toyota dealerships - in Rye Brook and Greenwich - as Toyota of Stamford has the best service team. I concur.
Thank you for the Excellent service. It speaks very highly of Toyota of Stamford when their people are responsive, courteous and take the time to explain what is happening. While in the waiting room, one of the service people came and explained to the lady from Darien as to what had to be done on her pedal - she had a Highlander. As he was leaving, I asked a question and he also explained it to me.
My sincere thanks to you and Brian. Also, when I called two(2) days later to see if we were eligible for the discount sent by mail, you did not hesitate to give the discount of $15 to us.

Thank you for your time on Tuesday in answering my questions. I feel compelled to compliment you and your technical staff for their friendly service. Actually I felt safe in my Toyota before the shim was installed on 2/16 and now I feel very safe and very secure. I hope that Toyota is treated impartially during the upcoming congressional hearings, now that the U.S. government is an owner of General Motors. I hope they realize the same model cars made in Japan are not part of the recall, and the recall is the result of our domestic manufacturing. I feel Toyota is doing everything that can be done to fix any problems that “may” have been the fault of defective parts/design.< /p>
When and if I need another car, I will be a loyal Toyota customer, and will not hesitate to make my recommendation to others.< /p>
My experience was excellent, and my Corolla received the attention I expected.
Since I didn't call Toyota this past Saturday until 10:00 AM, I was very appreciative that Corey was able to have my engine light problem diagnosed and my car returned to me before you closed @ 4:00 PM. My engine light never lite up before, so I was nervous about driving my car while the engine light was lite on the dashboard. Thank you and your team for the quick and excellent service.

The service on my 2007 Camry Hybrid was excellent, as always. The courtesy of all the staff from the checker outside to Cory, to Bill, to Andrew, to the courtesy drivers was up to the usual high standard.
Just a short note to thank you for all your help in getting the wiring harness completed on my RAV4. As it turns out, I used my trailer over the weekend to deliver my lawn mower for service and the hitch receiver and harness worked perfectly.< /p>
